Irish Blog Awards

Posted on Tuesday 21 February 2006

Well it’s official…I’ve been asked to judge several categories in the Irish Blog Awards.

I’ll be judging in some esteemed company including Sarah Carey from Enfield, John Breslin of boards.ie fame and Karlin Lillington from the Irish Times to name but a few.

Looking forward to the night, but judging some of these categories is going to be hard work.

If your not sure what blogging is all about the best definition I have come across is

A blog is a website in which items are posted on a regular basis and displayed in reverse chronological order. The term blog is a shortened form of weblog or web log. Authoring a blog, maintaining a blog or adding an article to an existing blog is called “blogging”.

This site could be classed as a blog due to its posting nature and the chronological order of articles. In fact it is written using one of the best known blog publishing applications “WordPress” but heavily altered and tuned to provide a website type experience.

John

P.S. Well done to Damien Mulley for organising this event from scratch and to all the people who voted for the shortlist nominations.
