Posted for and on behalf of the Abbeyfields Residents Committee.
Now that the cold weather and shorter days are among us, I feel it is time to step up our request to the council for much better traffic calming and control in the village of Clonard. We as residents are all responsible to keep approaching the council time and time again until our demands are met.
God forbid there is an accident which might involve any of us or our children and as we are aware that most accidents on routes like ours end up with a fatality!
We need speed ramps through the village, a pedestrian crossing at the school and a lollipop man to help the children across the road at school times.
It is no use thinking that someone else might do all the running around to get this done; it is that attitude which has led to nothing being done. We need to get together as a community and help each other at all times, this will make our village of Clonard a much safer and sought after place to stay.
